Delete your account
In the app — takes about ten seconds
This is the fastest route and it removes everything immediately.
1. Open EchoMap and go to the Profile tab.
2. Scroll to the bottom.
3. Tap DELETE ACCOUNT.
4. Confirm when asked. If you signed in with a username and
password, you will be asked for that password first; if you
signed in with Google, you will be asked to confirm with Google.
The account and its data are removed at that point. There is nothing else to do and nothing to wait for.
By email — if you no longer have the app
If you have already uninstalled EchoMap, or you cannot sign in, email support@echomap.space from the address attached to your account, or tell us the username you used, with the subject line Delete my EchoMap account.
We will confirm by reply once it is done. Please allow up to 30 days, though in practice it is usually the same week.
What gets deleted
All of it, permanently, with no way for us to bring it back:
· Your account and sign-in details
· Your display name, username, bio, age and gender
· Your profile photos
· Every memory, note and folder you created, including the
true coordinates that were only ever stored in your own data
· Your published place pins, which stop appearing on other
people's maps
· Your connections, and the connection records shared with
the people you were connected to
· Your notification token, so the app can no longer reach
your device
What is kept, and for how long
Messages you sent to other people. A conversation belongs to both people in it. Deleting your account does not reach into someone else's chat history and remove your half of what was said — the same way deleting your email account does not empty other people's inboxes. Your name is removed from those messages.
Moderation records. If you were reported by another user, or reported someone yourself, that report is kept for as long as it is needed to keep other people safe. It holds the account identifier and the reason, and nothing else of yours.
Nothing else. There is no backup copy held aside, no analytics profile, and nothing sold or shared with anyone — EchoMap has no advertising or analytics SDKs at all.
Deleting some things without deleting your account
You do not have to delete the whole account to remove things. Inside the app you can swipe any memory away, delete individual notes and folders, retake or remove your profile photos, turn FIND ME ON THE MAP off so nothing of yours is published, and block anyone you do not want to see or hear from.
